A blue neon cloud glows on the wall inside Cielo Weinbar – a nod to its name, which means "sky" in both Italian and Spanish. This is chef Ivano Pirolo’s first solo project, a move away from the formal fine dining of his past at restaurants like Kink and other Michelin-starred kitchens. The whole place is built around a more accessible gastro-bar idea, where high-quality ingredients are served in a relaxed, stylish setting near Ostkreuz.
The menu is a direct reflection of this concept, a collection of Spanish and Italian-inspired small plates designed for sharing. Rather than a traditional three-course meal, the experience is about ordering several dishes for the table. You’ll find creative combinations like Lamm "Tonnato," which swaps the classic veal for lamb, alongside BBQ aubergine with almond pesto, stracciatella with salmoriglio, and fresh tagliatelle with black truffle. For dessert, the mascarpone mousse with white chocolate and saffron is a standout.
As a wine bar, the beverage list is centered on a curated selection of natural wines that complement the food. A tight list of cocktails and non-alcoholic options is also available. The space itself is cozy and vibrant, feeling like a bridge between a serious restaurant and a neighborhood hangout. It’s a dog-friendly spot, and the intended rhythm is to settle in and work your way through the menu, one plate at a time.
