Silver Point Interpretive Overlook sits just south of Cannon Beach along U.S. Route 101, offering elevated views across the coastline. From the pull-off, visitors can see Haystack Rock, offshore reefs, and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse — often called “Terrible Tilly” — on clear days.
Interpretive signs explain the region’s coastal geology and the forces that shaped the nearby headlands and rock formations. The viewpoint is also a strong spot for seabird observation, with binoculars or long lenses common among regulars scanning the cliffs and waterline.
Access is immediate from the highway, though drivers should approach with care due to fast-moving traffic and a sharp turn-in. The overlook is exposed and often windy, especially outside summer months. Waterproof layers are recommended year-round.
The site draws photographers, wildlife watchers, and coastal travelers looking for a short scenic stop without venturing far from the road. It’s located a few minutes' drive from downtown Cannon Beach, with easy onward access to local parks, trails, and beachfront areas.
