Triangle Tattoo Museum blends an active tattoo studio with a permanent collection of memorabilia, flash sheets, and artifacts tracing the history of tattooing. It sits on Main Street in Fort Bragg, a short walk from the waterfront.
The museum side is lined floor-to-ceiling with historical tattoo designs, vintage machines, and artifacts from early American sideshows — including memorabilia linked to figures like Captain Don Leslie. Displays trace the evolution of techniques and imagery across decades, with flash art preserved from both well-known and lesser-known artists.
The working studio operates alongside the museum space. Custom work is offered by artists like Niki Needles, with options ranging from planned designs to a spin-the-wheel tattoo selection for walk-ins. Walk-ins and scheduled appointments are both accepted, with the atmosphere staying informal but professional throughout the day.
Madame Chinchilla, one of the founders, remains active on-site, maintaining the archive and sharing background on the pieces in the collection. Guided tours are sometimes available, depending on staff and studio flow.
