Saletta Giesing is a neighborhood tavern with a unique foundation – it was crowdfunded by the very people who drink and eat here, making it a true community living room in Untergiesing. The space is built around a traditional Bavarian "Schwemme," an informal main bar area with wood paneling and durable Resopal tables that give it a comfortable, lived-in feel. Beyond this main room, you’ll find a separate side room with about 30 seats and an outdoor seating area for warmer weather.
The kitchen is built around two distinct ideas: classic Bavarian dishes and authentic Neapolitan pizza. For dinner, the menu includes local staples like Schnitzel and Weißwurst, but the pizza oven runs almost continuously. This creates a specific rhythm for the place – the main kitchen serves its menu from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, while pizzas are available from midday right through to 10:00 PM. Weekdays have a dedicated lunch menu, and on Saturdays and Sundays, the tavern opens for breakfast. A wide selection of local beers rounds out the offerings.
Getting a table here works on a first-come, first-served basis for the main room and the outdoor area – you can't book these spots in advance. This policy keeps the atmosphere fluid and accessible for locals dropping in. The side room, however, can be reserved for groups. For those just after the food, the pizza is also available for pickup.
