The core of Common Ground is its lush outdoor courtyard, where you’ll find a large saltwater soaking pool and a cedar sauna set under the open sky. This central bathhouse is the main draw, a community-focused space built around a 104-degree heated pool and a silent, dry sauna. The entire bathhouse area is clothing-optional, and the grounds are filled with native plants, creating a calm, natural environment right in the city.
Beyond the soaking facilities, the cooperative houses more than twenty independent practitioners. The services cover a wide spectrum of wellness, from massage therapy and acupuncture to naturopathic medicine and chiropractic care, all taking place in quiet, dimly lit treatment rooms. The whole operation is a non-profit, member-supported co-op that has been around for over thirty years, with a mission focused on providing accessible wellness in an environmentally conscious way.
Using the space has a clear rhythm. Access to the pool and sauna is booked in timed sessions – typically ranging from 30 to 120 minutes – and booking in advance is standard practice. A respectful, quiet atmosphere is maintained throughout, but this is most apparent during the designated Silent Hours. These are strictly enforced every day from 10 am to 11 am and again from 9 pm to 10 pm, when the entire bathhouse is kept completely quiet. The co-op structure allows patrons, staff, and practitioners to become members, which provides discounts on services.
