About this place:
The Capitoline Museums originated in the 15th century as a gift from Pope Sixtus IV to the people of Rome. The objects gifted were a collection of bronzes, one of them being the famous She Wolf. The buildings that delineate the piazza have housed the Roman government since antiquity, and their facades were redesigned by Michelangelo in the 16th century.
