2. Napa Valley, San Francisco
Home to more than two hundred wineries 🍇 and a dining scene to match, Napa is a wine lover's dream. Doable in a day trip but you probably want to try and spend a long weekend if at all possible 🍷.
3. Santa Cruz, San Francisco
Down the coast from San Francisco along Highway 1, Santa Cruz is a funky little surf town. Check out the boardwalk and go for a hike in the surrounding Redwood forests if you have time. Perfect for a day trip.

When people talk about "California wild" they usually are referring to the dramatic ocean views and rocky coastline starting in Carmel and stretching south along Highway 1 through Big Sur. Breathtaking is an understatement.
